Welcome to QASI® EID
QASI®, the international program for Quality Assessment and Standardization of Indicators relevant to HIV/AIDs, launched the Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) arm of its programmatic services in January 2017. This was in response to new guidelines published by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF) in an effort to meet the UNAIDS HIV/AIDS treatment target of 90-90-90. QASI-EID aims to ensure accurate, reliable results are consistently obtained by point-of-care testing (POCT) sites performing qualitative HIV diagnostic testing on infants born to HIV-positive mothers. QASI-EID provides external quality assessment (EQA) through the bi-annual administration of proficiency testing schemes and comprehensive remedial action to POCT sites requiring assistance in maintaining quality testing standards. QASI-EID is managed and operated by the National Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections Laboratories of the National Microbiology Laboratory, and is located in the JC Wilt Infectious Diseases Research Centre in Winnipeg, Canada. Please contact the QASI-EID Administrator.
