Welcome to QASI^® VL

QASI^®, the international program for Quality Assessment and Standardization of Indicators relevant to HIV/AIDs launched the Viral Load (VL) arm of its programmatic services in January 2019. This was in response to new guidelines published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in an effort to meet the UNAIDS HIV/AIDS treatment target of 90-90-90. QASI-VL aims to ensure accurate, reliable results are consistently obtained by near-care and point-of-care testing (POCT) sites performing quantitative HIV viral load monitoring using rapid nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) technologies. QASI-VL provides external quality assessment (EQA) through the bi-annual administration of proficiency testing schemes and comprehensive remedial action to participating sites requiring assistance in maintaining quality testing standards. QASI-VL is managed and operated by the National Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections Laboratories of the National Microbiology Laboratory, and is located in the JC Wilt Infectious Diseases Research Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.
