QASI® International

Quality Assessment and Standardization of Indicators

Operated by: Quality Management Unit of the National Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) Laboratories, Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC)

Located at: JC Wilt Infectious Diseases Research Centre, Winnipeg, Canada

Services: QASI® International offers external quality assessment (EQA) schemes to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic testing and prognostic monitoring of HIV/AIDS in countries where EQA services are limited or unavailable.

QASI provides EQA through administration of proficiency testing schemes for both conventional and point-of-care testing technologies and comprehensive remedial action to participating sites requiring assistance in maintaining quality testing standards.

QASI provides support to help build capacity in countries interested in developing their own national or regional EQA program for HIV-related testing.

All QASI services are provided in both English and French.

There are three EQA schemes relevant to HIV/AIDS; QASI-LI (Leukocyte Immunophenotyping / CD4 enumeration), QASI-EID (Early-Infant Diagnosis), QASI-VL (Viral Load).
